Guidance for Governors
Encore Enterprises is committed to supporting governors in improving both the opportunities and quality of music and cultural education for our children and young people. Governors may find the following documents useful.
Music Mark (the subject association for music educators for both school and music service based colleagues), of which Encore is a member, has collaborated with the National Governors' Association and Arts Council England to create two guidance documents for school governors.

In 2012, the DfE published ‘The Importance of Music – A National Plan for Music Education’ (NPME). It is due to be ‘refreshed’ by the DfE but has been delayed due to Covid-19. (Click here to download)
In 2018, Music Mark published ‘The Future of the National Plan for Music Education’ - a summary of its consultation with Music Mark members on the future of a new National Plan for Music Education from 2020. (Click here to download)
