Do you play a musical instrument or sing? Are you aged 6 to 21? If so, then Herefordshire Youth Music has loads of opportunities for you to play and sing with others!
We have four levels of wind bands (woodwind and brass) and four levels of string ensembles/orchestras. This means that you get to play in a group with players of a similar level. We also have a brass band, a ukulele ensemble and a choir. We have between 200 and 300 young musicians from over 70 schools across the county and some home educated pupils too. Nearly every young person who plays or sings is here! Oh, and you get to play in at least two concerts a year. If you make it to the senior groups then there are other concerts too! We perform at The Shirehall, The Courtyard, various churches and at the Cathedral.
If you play a popular music instrument (drums, guitar, keyboard or vocals) then we have the Herefordshire Academy of Rock and Pop. Come and along and form a band with others! We have rehearsals on some Saturdays in the Autumn and Spring Terms, plus a project in February and May half terms.
We like to enjoy our music, so we work hard, but we have great fun in a relaxed atmosphere. Playing/Singing in a band, orchestra or other ensemble improves your rhythm work, aural skills, ensemble skills and supports your class music lessons too.
So, get online, get signed up and give it a try!
