On Thursday evening 28th March the Pavilion of Hereford Sixth Form College was filled with the sounds of cello. flute, clarinet, electric guitar riffs and songs from the shows. Young musicians entertained over 90 guests at the relaunch of the Herefordshire Music Fund including the Funds Patron’s Lady Darnley, Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, and Nathaniel Hone, High Sheriff of Herefordshire.
The Herefordshire Music Fund is a charitable trust that provides financial assistance to young musicians in the county to receive instrumental or vocal lessons. It has received the backing of the internationally renowned cellist and Principal of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Professor Julian Lloyd-Webber, who said:
“I am delighted to hear that the Herefordshire Music fund is to be relaunched.
I believe it is a child’s birth right to have access to music of all genres. Music enriches our lives and communities and can lead to a life-long fulfilment.
Your determination that every young person in Herefordshire should be able to experience music tuition and develop their talents, whatever their financial or social background, is one I completely share”
Fund Treasure, William Wake said “Our target is to raise £12000 per annum to provide 40 young people with bursaries. Just 200 people donating £5 a month will achieve this. If you believe in the importance of musical opportunities being accessible to all our young people, please consider donating.”
Anyone interested in supporting the fund with time, money, ideas or connections can contact the fund (firstname.lastname@example.org). Regular donations can be made via the Virgin Money Giving website (Search “Herefordshire Music Fund”) or by Texting HMFUND+ (+ being a number in £ between 1 and 20) to 70085.
