Despite multiple lockdowns which have left many feeling lonely, marginalised and vulnerable, a group of local musicians have kept their spirits up by moving their weekly songwriting sessions online. Until the first lockdown, “Wellsprings Songwriting Circle”, had met each week at Hereford Mind. This creative initiative was kickstarted in 2018 by Encore in partnership with Herefordshire Mind. It offers those with mental health issues additional ways of expressing themselves through the marvellous medium of music. They have shared their thoughts, values and experiences with the other group members and anyone else who is lucky enough to hear their amazing compositions. Their songs can be about anything; any genre on any instrument. Music is a force for good with healing properties. This is a small selection of the large body of work they have created. No matter the circumstances, for all the right reasons, music must go on.
