Singing in Schools
Herefordshire Music Education Hub is committed to supporting schools to “ensure that every pupil sings regularly” through its Singing Strategy provision.
Currently, we mainly meet this aim through several approaches:
Regular singing delivered through our Whole Class Ensemble lessons.
Large scale choral events (commissioned to Hereford Cathedral School) in Hereford Cathedral.
Biennial West Midlands Music Services ‘Big Sing’ for schools at Symphony Hall, Birmingham
We are delighted to announce the appointment in September 2022 of the first ever ‘Singing for Wellbeing Leader’ for Herefordshire, Jo Lowry (email@example.com). She will lead the delivery of Herefordshire Music Education Hub’s Singing Strategy and all-age ‘Social-I-Sing’ programme. ‘Social-I-Sing’ will have a focus on children and young people and an adult/community focus, both of which will promote wellbeing through singing activities.
Look out for more information soon!
Pupils are also invited to come along to Encore Youth Music's Youth Choir, more information about that can be found here.
