Joint press release: Working in Harmony for the Community!
Music across Herefordshire has hit the high notes as the County’s two largest providers of music join forces. The Music Pool (Herefordshire’s Community Music charity) and Encore Enterprises (which runs Herefordshire Music Service) are delighted to announce that the two organisations are coming together this month.
Encore Enterprises works with over 5,000 young people every week as part of its well-respected Herefordshire Music Service and Herefordshire Youth Music (young people’s bands and orchestras) services. It also provides training and support to Herefordshire’s school music teachers. The Music Pool provides services to pre-school children, special schools and adults, including older people. It is highly regarded for its work with people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health issues.
Cliff Woollard (Managing Director of Encore) said “Bringing the two organisations together will offer a ‘one stop shop’ to the community for music provision across Herefordshire. It will cover the entire spectrum - from music in schools to music in the community and from pre-school children through to older people. Becoming a larger organisation will enable us to take on a fund-raiser to support our future income, thereby increasing our resilience and securing music provision for the whole county. Our joint organisation will have 16 staff and over 70 freelance artists and teachers.”
Richard Glasspoole (Chair of The Music Pool Trustees) said “we are delighted that in coming together we will not only be maintaining our current services, but will be able to develop them too. The Music Pool supports many vulnerable people in our society and we are delighted that this new venture will ensure that such work not only continues into the foreseeable future, but that it will be appreciably enhanced. We will be working hard with our funders to ensure there is a seamless transition over the next few months. We have many exciting ideas planned for our musical communities now that we have come together.” Rob Strawson (retiring Director of The Music Pool) had this to say “I am confident in the new team that we’ve got in place to carry on this exceptional work.”
