'Tune-In!' - Overview

Option 1 - Try It – 10 or 20 week project (there is a larger choice of instruments available for 20 week projects) 

 

Option 2 - Play It – carousel with one class for a year (38 or 32 weeks: am or pm)

 

Option 3 - Play On – one instrument learnt with one class for a year (38 or 32 weeks: am or pm)

 

This is a government part funded instrumental programme, aimed at a giving pupils the opportunity to learn to play an instrument as a whole class for a year in primary school. The music National Curriculum will not be covered fully within these lessons, therefore the school will need to make provision for composing and improvising separately. Ukulele (Year 3+)

Samba (Year 3+)

Tin whistle (Year 3+)

Ocarina (Year 1+)

Glockenspiel (Year 1+)

Ukulele (Year 3+)

Tin whistle/Recorder (Year 3+)

Ocarina (Year 1+)

Glockenspiel (Year 1+)

 

Instrument choices for Option 1 - Try It 20 week projects or Option 3 - Play On projects:

 

Toot (similar to a flute) (Year 2+)

Ukulele (Year 2+)

Cornet/Trumpet (Year 4+)

Flute (Year 4/5+)

Clarinet (Year 5+)

Clarinet/Saxophone (Year 5+)

 

The lessons will be built around the progression of instrumental skills, with singing and listening included. We will provide the school with:

 

  • Skills progression for each instrument

  • Assessment criteria for each instrument

Costs for 'Tune-In!' Projects 2024-25

  • 10 weeks x 1hr - total charge of:

    • £580 (morning slot) per 10 weeks

    • £660 (afternoon slot) per 10 weeks

  • 32 weeks x 1hr - total charge of:

    • £1,410 (morning slot) per annum​

    • £1,660 (afternoon slot) per annum

  • 38 weeks x 1hr - total charge of:

    • £1,745 (morning slot) per annum​

    • £1,990 (afternoon slot) per annum

Please note:

Encore Music Service uses Herefordshire Council term dates to determine the start and end date of project delivery. Schools adopting alternative term dates are asked to inform their Tune-In tutor.

 

The 38-week option is delivered over 37 – 39 weeks depending on the day of the week tuition is delivered and Herefordshire Council term dates.
